Electronic Press Kit for Gloria Estefan
Electronic press kit also known as electronic media kit is fast emerging as the most sought after promotional tool among businessmen and artistes alike.
Gloria Estefan
One of the top selling artistes of all time, Gloria Estefan is a famous Cuban American singer and composer. A winner of seven Grammy awards, Gloria holds the record for selling more than 90 copies of her albums worldwide with 26.5 million of them sold in the states alone.
Early days
Gloria Estefan whose full name reads Gloria Maria Milagrosa Fajaredo was born in the Havana province of Cuba on September 1, 1957. His father was a Cuban soldier who moved to the US after the outbreak of Cuban revolution. Later, his father fought for US military in the Vietnam War.
Gloria went to St. Michael School and graduated in psychology from the University of Miami.
Gloria had taken music lessons during her school days and was a regular performer in concerts during her college days.
Inception of musical career
Gloria entered professional music after her marriage with Miami sound machine’s band leader Emilio Estefan in 1978. Soon, Gloria began to record and release albums under the aegis of Miami sound machine.
Success
Gloria continued her tryst with Miami sound machine and saw their union produce many a successful albums. Following the record-breaking success of album “Let in Loose” in 1987 which featured two of the most sold songs like “can’t stay away from you” and “anything from you”, the band was renamed Gloria Estefan and Miami sound machine. As the single “anything from you” went on to top all international charts, the name Gloria Estefan became ubiquitous across the world.
Apart from being a renowned singer and composer, Gloria Estefan has also enjoyed celluloid fame. She has acted in two films viz; music of the heart (1999) and for love of country (2000). Recently, she, along with her husband, made a special cameo appearance in 2008 flick Marley and Me.
Estefan is currently busy working on a new dance oriented studio album. The album is slated to release in February 2011. She is also scheduled to make a special guest appearance on the forthcoming album by Sheila E.
