Giving Personalised Gifts That Make Memories
Throughout the year many people scramble to find the perfect gift for a special person in their life. This is a privilege that sends many people into a tizzy as they try to demonstrate, through gift giving, their affection for another. The best choices are often those that not only celebrate an important event, but also are personalised gifts that make memories.
With a little creativity on the part of the giver, regardless of the occasion, the perfect gift can be made or selected. Gifts do not require excessive expense but, rather, contain a personal touch that holds special meaning for the recipient. When a gift is individualized those on the receiving end appreciate the fact that the time was taken to try to make them happy.
Regardless of the occasion, a gift can be personalised in a number of ways. Keepsake boxes with photos or initials, expanding bracelets with a person’s a favorite phrase, or even engraving someone’s name and a special day on an item will ensure memories are made long after the day is over. When a gift is customized it stands out from all other gifts received.
This is a little more difficult with children, but not impossible. Books can now include the child’s name as the main character. This is a delight to little ones who think it was written about them. Chocolate bars and money boxes can also be stamped with the child’s name. This is something that will last, maybe not in life, but in their memories because it was special.
For those who are getting married, engraving a toaster or waffle iron probably doesn’t make much sense. However, by giving towels, cuff links, or a locket with the new initials embossed on them make them mementos that will hold much value through the years. Additionally, when it can be used over and over again throughout the years it serves as a reminder of that special day.
When one uses their creativity, looks at everything available today, and then thinks about how it can be made personalised, it’s easy to see how to make a simple gift special. For those who are beloved, finding ways to say “I love you” never becomes passe.
We celebrate many occasions throughout the year and, many times, personalised gifts are appropriate as well as appreciated. They can make a lasting impression on the recipient as well as a treasured memory that can even be passed on to future generations. It’s important to remember, however, that these do not have to be expensive or purchased. As a matter of fact, some of those that hold the most meaning are made by the loving hands of the giver.

Memories $7.17 As albums go, Barbra Streisand’s Memories made a great single. A compilation, but not exactly a hits collection, it contained two newly recorded songs, “Memory” from the musical Cats and the Top 40 hit “Comin’ in and Out of Your Life,” plus a re-recorded version of “Lost Inside of You,” a song previously done as a duet with Kris Kristofferson in A Star Is Born, and seven tracks from the previous eight years, three of which were making their third or fourth appearance on record. In other words, Memories was a blatant consumer rip-off, highly unusual for an artist who usually gave value for money. That said, the album contained some of Streisand’s biggest hits — “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers,” “No More Tears (Enough Is Enough),” “Evergreen,” and “The Way We Were,” as well as some excellent performances, such as Streisand’s take on Billy Joel’s “New York State of Mind.” Thus, it was a good collection thought of independently (which may help explain why it became one of Streisand’s biggest sellers), even if in the context of her overall catalog it was an album of reruns baited with a couple of new songs.
